Welcome to the cornerstone blog!

For those of us intent on laying our lives on the altar, we might have this grand idea that we’re willing to lay our lives down and be obedient to Christ up to the point of martyring…or maybe moving to a foreign country…or maybe doing jail time. But if we’re honest, maybe it looks a little bit more like up to the point of minor inconveniences, like changing cloth diapers. 

The world will tell you you must do more, be more, accumulate more. The world does not matter. God does.

If hundreds of new believers poured into our church doors, would they be received by a body of believers unified in mission, in purpose, and in truth? It seems like we have work to do. Each one of us must make a choice to be body builders.

When we believe in God, we are kept in the palm of God’s very hand and nothing and no one can take that security and protection from us.

Instead of allowing these feelings to turn into doubt, we need to take our thoughts captive and fix our eyes on Jesus, knowing that the pain we feel now cannot compare to the joy that is coming.

That was not cause for frustration; that was cause for celebration!

The necklace itself held no power but it became symbolic to me of the power of Christ. 

After a few bumps into the walls, she rounded the corner and parked the cart exactly where it belonged.

There is something about living in this harsh land that tugs at my soul.

God is so smart. He closed doors, one after the other, to allow that house sale to fall through.

Your mercies are new every morning I am thankful this is true Please cover me with your faithful love And may this day glorify You

What I got was so much more. Because that’s the way God is. Three days after my post, an Amazon box arrived in the mail.

In the rows of trees I saw a pheasant sitting under a tree. Just sitting. Doing nothing. It was absolutely stunning.

Just like this key, how many people are sitting just outside the church, having not yet been found?

The harvest work we have to do in Christ’s kingdom is both challenging and rewarding.

Over time, I sat and let my faith grow and my heart and mind heal in that empty nursery with only one thing hanging on the wall...

In our busy and overly "connected" culture, many of us have never felt more alone. But the Good News? Jesus says He will never leave us.

"It made me realize that it is all about perspective. Beauty and the mess of life co-exist. We must choose what we focus on."
