Love in action- uganda mission report

"But how can they call on Him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about Him? And how can they hear without a preacher? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who announce the gospel of good things!"

Romans 10:14-15

This summer, God deeply moved my heart during our mission to Uganda, especially through the witness of Papa Sam Abuku and his wife, Toto. In Kaabong, I saw firsthand what it looks like to surrender everything for the sake of the Gospel. Sam and Toto have poured out their lives to care for God's children in the most selfless and sacrificial ways. Whether it was feeding 250–400 people daily or comforting mothers in tears, their commitment to serving others is unwavering. Their work through the YWAM base and an education ministry to teach about farming has not only brought physical provision but also spiritual hope to an entire region. Watching their quiet faithfulness in such harsh conditions convicted me deeply and reminded me of the buried treasure in Matthew 13—they have sold everything for the sake of God’s kingdom, and in that, they have found true joy.

One of the most encouraging moments for me came as I watched the next generation—Team 3—step up to carry on the legacy. Moses, Sam Jr., and Emma each embraced their roles in Kaabong and beyond with a new sense of purpose. I have witnessed growth in them over the last two years. These are men who are not only capable but committed to the calling God has placed on their lives. Their energy, their unity, and their willingness to learn and lead reminded me that God is indeed raising up the next wave of faithful servants. It gave me peace to know that the seeds Sam and Toto planted will continue to bear fruit through these young leaders. Seeing their transformation firsthand has been a gift from God and has filled me with fresh hope for the future of the mission in Kaabong, Uganda.

Through this entire experience, God opened my eyes to the power of obedience, community, and long-term discipleship. From training YWAM leaders, delivering Bibles, and working with the amazing staff of Green Valley and Barnack schools, to sharing stories and meals with the amazing hospitality of the people of Kaabong and Kamod, I felt the undeniable presence of Christ in each moment. The road was long—sometimes hard—but God’s faithfulness was evident in every detail. Scripture came alive, especially Matthew 28 and Romans 10:14–15, as I realized that we are not just sent to preach but to live out love in action. I returned home changed, convicted to live with more intentionality and generosity, and grateful for the beautiful feet of those who go—and those who send.
