The NEed
After 1.5 years of prayer, meetings, working with contractors, and planning to upgrade our heating and cooling system, we finally have a bid approved by Session. It’s a solution that honors both stewardship and practicality. This decision comes after a long, thoughtful, and prayerful process. The original church was built in 1956, making the current boiler system 68 years old. This project is about more than comfort; it’s an absolute necessity. The contractor has indicated the current system will soon become obsolete. There are no other options for servicing the current system.
The improvements will provide a welcome space where God’s presence can be experienced in every season in every corner of the building. This is a call to action as we invest in the generations yet to come. Cornerstone’s legacy already is and has been serving its congregation, community members, the weekly community supper, Escuela Preschool, Kids and Company Daycare and many community support groups who have been using this beautiful building for decades. The last building upgrades were completed during the 2007 Nifty 50 campaign, which you may remember! That was 18 years ago! Just as those before us built and sacrificed so that we could worship here, we now have the obligation and opportunity to do the same for those who continue to walk through these doors. “Walk as children of light and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord.” Eph. 5:8-9. Let us continue to walk together in the light of Christ, and by the grace of God, to do what is good, right and true.
We pray that your family’s generational history with the church will inspire you to help us with a major gift in honor of or in memory of your loved one. We need to raise the funds as soon as possible so the contractor can begin. Your major gift will be a source of inspiration to many families, who will prayerfully help meet this need.
