“Imitate me, as I also imitate Christ.”
1 Corinthians 11:1

I have the incredible privilege of spending Sunday mornings with my granddaughter as we prepare for worship services. Both of her parents are on the Worship Team at our church, so her and I have a little routine we follow together as they rehearse. We pray over the sanctuary, check in with the hospitality team to make sure everything is set, and visit the Kids' Ministry to see if they need any help.
Just before her second birthday, I witnessed something truly amazing. As we were walking through the Kids' Ministry area, she grabbed the cart that is used to transport supplies from room to room. After a few bumps into the walls, she rounded the corner and parked the cart exactly where it belonged. It was such a simple action, but it left me in awe—at not even two years old, she was already imitating my actions as I work to serve our church.
This moment brought to mind a couple of powerful scriptures:
Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way they should go, and when they are old, they will not depart from it.”
And 1 Corinthians 11:1 says, “Imitate me, as I also imitate Christ.”
Her actions served as a humbling reminder of the responsibility we have to model Christ-likeness to those around us, especially the younger ones. My prayer for all of us is that we would be intentional in modeling a life of service to Christ—teaching the next generation to love and serve Him with all their hearts, souls, minds, and strength.
