Never Alone

Updated: Oct 3

The Lord is the One who will go before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.

Deuteronomy 31:8 (HCSB)

reading the Bible, a reminder that you're never alone

We live in a world of  non-commitment. People give their word and go back on it. Friends say they will meet for dinner or a fun event and then cancel at the last minute without a second thought. People like to say that technology has made us more connected than ever. At the same time many people today have never felt more alone.

There is a mental health crisis in our country. Anxiety and depression are skyrocketing as families and relationships fall apart. Some individuals have over one thousand followers on Facebook or Instagram and not a single friend to spend time with in person.

As a society we are busy. Busy working, playing games on our phones, social networking, online shopping, watching tv, going to ball games, etc. So busy that church pews on Sunday are emptying as data plans are getting larger and larger and cell phone users are getting younger and younger.

The average age children get their first phone is 11.6 years old while researchers recommend waiting until years later. People don’t want to miss out on anything! Unfortunately, for many people their real lives are passing them by while their eyes are glued to a cell phone screen.

No wonder we feel alone. In all of this craziness there is awesome news. Truly AWESOME! Christ Jesus said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” This is found in many places in the Bible in both the Old and New Testament. Why? Because it is important for us to know that we are never alone and because it is true! God will not leave us or forsake us.

The hymn “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” rings true. He is our friend, our comforter and our constant companion. He desires to know you and spend time with you. He is real and He is full of love.

Whether you read the Bible on your phone or as a book, pick it up. Read. Get to know your Heavenly Father. I promise, He will never leave or forsake you. That yearning in your heart to be known…only He can fulfill.
